This Eresin Crown Hotel in Sultanahmet may be one of my favorite hotels in Istanbul, if for nothing more than its amazing location. It is no more than a 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and 6 from Hagia Sofia.
For many years, I wanted to stay in this particular hotel due to the history of the location (it’s built on what was once the Byzantine Imperial Palace location, and many of the artefacts that are housed around the hotel [as above in the picture] came from the excavation process – what history this location holds!)
Then you have the amazing rooms and service levels as well. Finally the price tends to be within most people’s budget, which of course dictates what many people will choose for a hotel, whether it fits their budget!
Some of the rooms can be a bit overstocked with furniture as I found was the case with the first room they gave me, a twin bedded room. Given that I am an adult and I usually room alone, I like at least a queen size bed, or a king (better). Why not enjoy the time alone – right?
This room is called the “Topkapi Suite” and houses a sitting room with sofa, desk and dining table, along with the tv viewing area all off the main sleeping area. Very nice upgrade if I must say so!
